La La Land – film review

Some sceptics might say that the writers of fictional novels have such a vivid imagination, they must live in La La Land.

With this in mind, my husband and I went to the cinema last night to watch the recently acclaimed film which indeed was named ‘La La Land’. The story of Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring actress and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) a dedicated jazz musician. Both pursuing their dreams.

La La LandI was full of anticipation as a result of the media coverage, however as much as I enjoyed the film and understood the different layers of the story, it did not hold my full attention until the latter third.

The sets were colourful, bright and interesting, the music although not to my taste (Jazz is not my favourite) did lend meaning to the production along with the dance routines.

In summary it reminded me of the old romance movies brought bang up to date. Anyway enough for now, excuse me while I return to my own La La Land and continue writing my next novel.

Have you watched the film yet, what did you think? Join me on Twitter and Facebook to discuss this blog post and others.
